Then, Sage Valmiki describes to Rama where he should reside. The obvious answer is… ‘In the hearts of devotees. ‘Lord Rama, your form is beyond the scope of words and beyond the grasp of intellect—
Beyond understanding, beyond description, and without limits. ‘Not this, nor that’—this is how the holy scriptures always describe your divine presence.

Listen, Rama! Now I will describe your divine abode, where you reside with Sita and Lakshman…!

Those whose ears are filled with your tales, like an ocean fed by countless rivers—though ever-flowing, it never overflows. Their hearts should be your abode…!

And those whose eyes long for your divine sight, like the Chatak bird that thirsts only for raindrops from the sky, in their hearts, O leader of the Raghu clan, you should make your joyful abode and dwell with Lakshman and Sita…!!! And those who, from the vast lake of your pure glory, like a swan’s discerning tongue, choose only the pearls of your virtues—Rama, reside in their hearts…!

And those whose nostrils are always filled with the sweet fragrance of offerings made to you, who partake of food only after first offering it to you, who adorn themselves with garments and ornaments from your sacred offerings…Those whose hands remain engaged in your service, whose hearts seek no refuge but in you alone… And those whose feet tread only the path of your holy pilgrimage—O Rama, dwell in their minds forever…!

Those who ask for but one boon,that their mind be consumed in your quest, in the sanctum of their heart,
there, O son of Raghu, you and Sita both reside…!

Those who have overcome lust, anger, arrogance, pride, and greedy cravings, envy, wrath, and hatred,
and those in whose hearts there is no treachery, hypocrisy, or deceit, you should reside, O King of Raghu…!!!

Those who speak the truth, graciously and with prudence, and awake or asleep are under your mercy,
for whom there is no other destination but you, Rama, reside in their minds…!

And for whom you are the protector, companion, father, mother, teacher, and respected elder,
in the temple of their mind, you two brothers should reside with Sita…!

And those who ascribe all their virtues to you and the shortcomings to themselves, thus, firmly established in your faith, and for whom their devotion to you is their happiness in their heart, you should stay with Vaidehi (princess of Videh Kingdom = Sita)…!

One’s caste, race, wealth, and false pride in religion, near and dear relatives, and a pleasing house—
those who renounce the above but keep you in their hearts, in their hearts, you should stay… O King of Raghu…!

And those who desire nothing else but natural, effortless love for you!
Remain in their minds forever, Because in their hearts, where your true home is…!
