राम अनंत अनंत गुनानी ।
जन्म कर्म अनंत नामानी ।।
जल सीकर महि रज गनि जाहीं ।
रघुपति चरित न बरनि सिराही ।

पार्वती जी को श्रीराम कथा सुनाने के बाद शिव जी कहते हैं कि राम चरित का वर्णन श्रुति व सारदा भी नहीं कर सकते हैं। राम जी अनंत हैं, उनके गुण अनंत हैं, उनके जन्म, कर्म और नाम अनंत हैं। जल की बूँदें एवं पृथ्वी के रज-कण चाहे गिने जा सकते हो पर राम चरित वर्णन करने से पूरे नहीं होते हैं।
श्रीराम जी का चरित गिनने के लिए नहीं है। यह तो सुमिरन, भजन, ग्रहण व अनुसरण के लिए है। अस्तु गिनने के बजाय सुमिरन करते हुए इसका हर पल अनुसरण करें।
After narrating Shri Ram’s story to Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva says that even the Vedas and Goddess Saraswati cannot fully describe the glory of Ram’s character. Shri Ram is infinite, his virtues are infinite, and his birth, deeds, and name are also infinite. One may be able to count the drops of water or the dust particles on Earth, but the description of Shri Ram’s character can never be fully completed. The character of Shri Ram is not meant to be counted; it is meant to be remembered, sung, accepted, and followed. Therefore, instead of merely counting, one should constantly remember and follow it in every moment.

निर्मर्यादस्तु पुरुष: पापाचारसमन्वित:।
मानं न लभते सत्सु भिन्नचारित्रदर्शन:।।
जो मनुष्य मर्यादारहित, पापचरण से युक्त और साधु-सम्मत शास्त्रों के विरुद्ध आचरण करनेवाला है वह सज्जन पुरुषों में सम्मान प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता।
A person who is devoid of morals, engaged in sinful conduct, and acts against the righteous scriptures approved by saints can never earn the respect of noble individuals.
कुलीनमकुलीनं वा वीरं पुरुषमानिनम्।
चारित्रमेव व्याख्याति शुचिं वा यदि वाऽशुचिम्।।
कुलीन अथवा अकुलीन, वीर हैं अथवा भीरु, पवित्र हैं अथवा अपवित्र- इस बात का निर्णय चरित्र ही करता है।
Whether one is noble or not, brave or cowardly, pure or impure—this is determined solely by one’s character.
ऋषयश्चैव देवाश्च सत्यमेंव हि मेनिरे।
सत्यवादी हि लोकेऽस्मिन परमं गच्छति क्षयम।।
ऋषि और विद्वान् लोग सत्य ही उत्कृष्ट मानते हैं, क्योंकि सत्यवादी पुरुष ही इस संसार में अक्षय [परान्तकाल तक] मोक्ष सुख को प्राप्त होते हैं।
Sages and scholars regard truth as supreme because only those who speak the truth attain eternal liberation and bliss in this world.
उद्विजन्ते यथा सर्पान्नरादनृतवादिन:।
धर्म: सत्यं परो लोके मूलं स्वर्गस्य चोच्यते।।
मिथ्यावादी पुरुष से लोग वैसे ही डरते हैं, जैसे सर्प से। संसार में सत्य ही सबसे प्रधान धर्म माना गया है। स्वर्ग प्राप्ति का मूल साधन भी सत्य ही है।
People fear a liar just as they fear a serpent. In this world, truth is regarded as the supreme virtue. Truth is also the primary means to attain heaven.
सत्यमेवेश्वरो लोके सत्यं पद्माश्रिता सदा।
सत्यमूलानि सर्वाणि सत्यान्नास्ति परं पदम्।।
संसार में सत्य ही ईश्वर है। सत्य ही लक्ष्मी= धन-धान्य का निवास है। सत्य ही सुख-शान्ति एवं ऐश्वर्य का मूल है। संसार में सत्य से बढ़कर और कोई वस्तु नहीं है।
In this world, truth itself is God. Truth is the abode of wealth and prosperity. Truth is the foundation of happiness, peace, and grandeur. There is nothing greater than truth in this world.
दत्तामिष्टं हुतं चैव तप्तानि च तपांसि च।
वेदा: सत्यप्रतिष्ठानास्तस्मात्सत्यपरो भवेत्।।
दान, यज्ञ, हवन, तपश्चर्या द्वारा प्राप्त सारे तप और वेद- ये सब सत्य के आश्रय पर ही ठहरे हुए हैं, अत: सभी को सत्यपरायण होना चाहिए।
Charity, sacrifices, oblations, penance, and even the Vedas—all these rest upon truth. Therefore, everyone should remain devoted to truth.
