“The nine steps of devotion, I impart to you. Listen you well and remember it always”…!!!

The nine steps of devotion, I impart to you. Listen you well and remember it always.

The first step to devotion (Bhakti) is to keep company of the saints (Satsang).

The second step is to enjoy listening to legends/discourses
pertaining to the Lord.

Selfless service to the Guru’s lotus feet without any pride is the third step.

The fourth step is to earnestly sing praises of the Lord’s virtues with a heart clear
of
guile, deceit or hypocrisy.

Chanting My Name with steadfast faith is the fifth step as the Vedas reveal.

The sixth, is to practice self-control, good character, detachment from manifold activities and always follow the duties as good religious person.

The seventh step is to perceive the world as God Himself
and
regard the saints higher than the Lord.

The eighth, is a state (which one arrives at when one travels the first seven steps) where there is no desire left,
but
the gift of perfect peace and contentment with whatever one has.
In this state, one does not see fault in others, even in a dream.

In this state, one has full faith in the Lord, and becomes (child-like) simple with
no hypocrisy or deceit.
The devotee has strong faith in the Lord with neither exaltation or depression in
any life circumstance (but becomes equanimous).

Shri Ram adds that Shabri’s Bhakti is perfectly complete.
Yet if anyone were to have taken even one step towards devotion,
out of all nine,
he/she would be very dear to the Lord.

The most sacred earning of spiritual life is to take refuge in accomplished sage…!!!

Sings revered sage Tulsi in Ramcharitmanas:

संत बिसुद्ध मिलहिं परि तेही, चितवहिं राम कृपा करि जेही ||
राम कृपाँ तव दरसन भयऊ, तव प्रसाद सब संसय गयऊ ||

पुन्य पुंज बिनु मिलहिं न संता, सतसंगति संसृति कर अंता ||
पुन्य एक जग महुँ नहिं दूजा, मन क्रम बचन बिप्र पद पूजा ||

It’s total grace of God to find a pure sage.
Without accumulation of righteous impulses, one can never get association
and
blessings of an enlightened sage.

The most sacred earning of spiritual life is to take refuge in accomplished sage
and
to serve such sages with mind, heart and all actions with selfless motive.

To approach really enlightened seers with reverence, self-surrender and humility, to be instructed in true knowledge
through devoted service and guileless curiosity must be the top priority.

Self Perception

Grace of God which comes in return of own’s
faith, devotion, dedication and surrender

The first step to devotion (Bhakti) is to keep company of the saints (Satsang).

Sings Tulsi in Ramcharit Manas.

That’s what Bhagavad Gita confirms also:

तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया ।
उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिनः

tad viddhi praṇipatena
paripraśnena sevayā,
upadeksyanti te jñānam
jñāninas tattvadarśinaḥ

“Obtain that knowledge (from sages) through reverence,
inquiry and innocent solicitation, and the sages who are aware of reality will initiate you into it.”

Seeker is advised to approach seers with reverence, self-surrender, and humility, to be instructed in true knowledge through devoted service and guileless curiosity.

These seers will enlighten him on it. The ability to acquire this knowledge comes only with a wholly dedicated service. They are seers who enable us to have direct perception of God. They know the mode of yagya and they will teach it to seeker.

“What a pity that we squander the jewels of our breath on idle gossip”……!!!

Sages have described each breath as a precious ruby.

What a pity that we squander the jewels
of
our breath
on
idle gossip!

One kind of satsang is the moral discourse we hear from noble men, but the real spiritual discourse is internal. Self alone is true and eternal. True satsang comes about when the mind reins itself in from all externals and dwells with the Self.
This adherence to truth is cultivated
by
incessant reflection, meditation, and samadhi.

The more joy one feels in dwelling with the one reality, the more restraint one gains over each breath, the mind, and the instruments by which objects of sense affect the Self. The day they are totally restrained is the day when we are absorbed in the ultimate essence.Providing, like a good instrument,
harmonious accompaniment to the song of the Self
is
true satsang.

The physical ruby is hard, but the jewel of breath is even more tender than a flower. Flowers fall and wither soon after they bloom,
and
we can never say that we shall live until the next breath.

But if there is true adherence to the Self, it leads us to realize the highest goal through providing control over each breath.
There is nothing to proclaim beyond this, although each device is helpful in traversing a certain stretch
of
the path of spiritual perfection.

This is renunciation-(sanyas); and this is also achievement of yog…..!!!!

A man is said to have achieved yog
when
he is unattached
to
both sensual pleasure and action.

This is the stage when a man is not given to sensual pleasure,
nor
to action.

So there is no longer any need
of
even the prescribed task of worship
and,

therefore,
of
attachment to action.

This is the point when attachments are completely broken.

This is renunciation-(sanyas);
and
this is also achievement of yog.
